“Do you like to learn about planets”? If so, you might like to read about Venus. Did you know that Venus is the third brightest planet, after the sun and the moon. It is also the second planet from the sun. It is the fifth largest planet in our solar system. Venus is an inner planet because it is located inside the asteroid belt. It has a weaker gravity than earth. It takes Venus 224.7 earth days to orbit the sun. Venus is known for sometimes being called the morning star or the evening star, because it appears brightest shortly before sunrise and shortly after sunset. Sometimes you can look up at the night sky at just the right time, and you might see a glowing yellowish ball. That is probably Venus.
It is a lot different than earth. It is one of the hottest planets because it has clouds that are made up of a poison called sulfuric acid that traps in heat, so it can not escape. Venus can get to be 864 degrees fahrenheit and 462 degrees celsius. It has zero(0) moons orbiting it. Venus was named after roman goddess of love and beauty. That is why it is so beautiful.
In order to learn about the planet, scientists have to send satellites or robots to investigate and find more information. In 1975, Venera 9 went to see Venus. In 1972, Venera 8 checked it out, and in 1978, Venera 11 took a look at the planet. From all of these discoveries, we figured out that you can see Venus without a telescope. They also figured out that Venus is mostly a hot rock. From space Venus looks smooth and white because of its thick layer of clouds, the bright yellowish clouds hide Venus’ surface so you can not tell that it is a hot rock. Venus is smaller than earth and does not have any rings. I don’t know about you, but I know that if I owned Venus, I would be very confused having to know everything.
I know that all of those facts I told you were interesting, but these ones are really interesting facts. Did you know that the weight of the thick atmosphere on Venus is enough to crush you? It is also the only the only planet named after a female. On Venus, one day is longer than one year. One day is 243 earth days and one year is 225 earth days. I thought that those facts were really interesting. That is why I picked Venus.
In conclusion, I hope that you enjoyed learning about Venus. Now if you ever do a report about it, you will have a head start. Also if you grow up and want to be an astronaut, you will know a little bit about the planet Venus.
